How to get water through a pipe?

Does anyone know how to get water to travel through a pipe without having to suck the other end?I'm trying to clean out a pond so need to water to drain through a hosepipe but don't want to suck on the other end in-case the water comes through too quick & i end up getting a mouthful of pond water!!

Submerge the pipe so it completely fills with water , put your thumb over the end and dont take it off till you'r at a point lower than the level in the pond !!

Take the drain pipe(which in my case I use the garden hose cause it is flexible) rolled up and submerge the entire hose coil flat on its side in the pond so that the hose fills up with water. Then put a cap on one end and the other end gets a rock. take the capped end out of the pond and unwrap the hose and lead it away to where you want the water to go to. Making sure you are lower than the pond. Uncap it, it will run and suck up the water out of the pond. So long as you don't suck any air, the suction will not break. Otherwise you have to recharge the hose again.

Ok what you can do is get the hose, make sure one end is in the pond, in the other end get the garden hose and run water into the hose until it starts to run out into the pond. THen put the hose on the Ground, you have to make sure the end that is not in the pond is a bit lower than the pond. The effect of the water running out of the hose should suck the pond water through the hose.

Obviously, you are aware that you can syphon the pond water to a lower level for drainage and indicates you do have a good start on your project.

As for the pipe situation, you really need not even that if you have a garden hose. Just fill your garden hose thru the outside spicket with the sprayer end turned on. When the sprayer releases water, the hose is filled.

Turn off the sprayer first and then the spicket. Disconnect the hose from the spicket and walk the hose to the pond while holding the spicket end above your waist and just dragging the hose behind while still on the ground.

Place the sprayer end of the hose where you want it to drain while always holding the spicket end waist high above ground.

Next, place the spicket end of the hose in the pond and then remove the sprayer from the opposite end.

The flow begins...no sucking required...

Be sure the drain pipe will be going downhill more than uphill. Lift the bottom end and pour water in the pipe with a watering can until it's full to "prime" it. Put your thumb or your hand over the end of the pipe to block it, and lower the pipe quickly removing your had or thumb at the last second. It may take a few tries!

Are you talking about starting a syphon? If you mean you will be draining the pond to a lower elevation, then yes.
The only requirements for a syphon are gravity and a full hose. Understandable that you don't want to be working that hose with your mouth - so do this:
Use a bilge pump. Yep. One of those grey PVC jobbies with a piston on a handle and an outlet hose. Couple the hose to the bilge pump (sealed well) and use the pump to draw enough water through the hose to get the syphon going.

buy a clear pipe so u can see the water coming up . suck the pipe till the water is just past half way then lower the end down

u could try using a hoover to do the sucking lo. but no unfortunatly u have to cypher the water, u dont have to suck that much that the water goes in ur mouth just enough so its about 3/4 of the way through the pipe. sorry mate

Buy a small water pump from B&Q or Homebase. Wont cost you much and your pond will be empty in no time!

you can go to b and q and buy a small pump that you can put on your electric drill there around £5 and the ends do fit on a hose i bought one couple of weeks ago
