I have oily skin and hate to put lots of products on my face to prevent breakouts. But I read that facial toners are vital in the whole face washing regimen. I use moisturizer though but never tone my face. is it important to apply toners? I use Clean & Clear products.

if you have dry skin, toners are not necessary.they can tend to dry out your face. but you said you have oily skin, so a toner seems like a good idea for you. you should wash your face, tone, and a bit after apply a moisturizer. but, i do not recommend clean and clear, the chemicals will do more harm in the long run to your face when you are older. have you ever heard of Burt's bees? its a awesome all natural, no animal tested, line of products ranging from facial care, to toothpaste, to lotions and cosmetics. your skin will really really show a difference when you get rid of all the chemicals. just try it out! I own a lot of it and all my friends do. it really does wonders. visit the site, and click the link 'face' I wish you luck! you can probably find most of it at a local walmart store. tones of places have it. !

Absolutely.

I use ProActiv and after using the step 1 wash, I use the step 2 toner and then the step 3 repairing lotion.

The toner is used to get into the pores and dry out the excess oils within. It's a very key step in the cleansing process. I spent many years using just a wash and nothing else, but finally realized I had to give it a shot.... there's a major difference between using it and not using it!

Wow so it's like going on a race and not have running shoes on. Anyways try using products with less harmful chemicals. Yeah Clean and Clear will sting your face. The reason why it is important is cleansing will take away make up build up, dirt and other debris. When you tone you not only close your pores but you are cleaning more of what the cleanser could not take off. You want to close your pores. This way it protects future breakouts and oil on your face. The thing about toners is that if you'll use them regularly they will actually keep your pores clean and will also shrink them. Even just a splash of cold water after cleaning your face would be better than nothing.I was taught in cosmetology school to rinse the hair in cooler water and this will cause the hair to be very shiny because the pores of the hair will shrink , this will in affect cause the hair to look healthie and shinier. Same concept with the pores on your face.

I don't think it is necessary, but I love the way it makes my skin feel. I feel cleaner, I think it does more than just washin alone...i hardly ever break out anymore since i've been using a toner

It isn't necessary, but it does improve the acne and oil situation. I used to be resistant to toners, but I tried one and noticed that my skin is less oily and softer. Its really your choice, you can live without it, but it does improve things somewhat

I only use make-up remover for eyes, cause my cleanser won't get that. Then I wash off my face that has foundation with a normal cleanser, cause it seems to work.
