Sodom and Gomorrah weren't cast down because they were sexually free, they were cast down for not helping God's angels that he sent down to see if the people were good. They gave them no lodging, and wanted to rape them(or so I've heard), basically they were very mad at these angels in the form of men, so that's why they were cast down.
So the morality of the story is actually, be nice to strangers, not abstain from free love.
Sex is only a crime when it's not consensual.

dear ur question is uncomplete.sex is sin too not crime only.
it is third cause of fighting n killing eachother peoples on this earth.after money n power.but in my contries it is no.1-bcause all surveys telling us there is sex involve in mudercases.no doubt it has biggest pleser n entertrainmet for everyone.no other entertainment like that even a movie or any sport or game.
in richest contries they understand best entrainment to sex.n doing too.woman is only a entertainment toy.

No, in my opinion, sex between two consenting adults is their business and not that of the government or the church.
Now, conversely, sex with a victim is certainly a crime and should be punished severely.

in my opinion, sex is the most intimate expression of one adult's love to his/her beloved. And i believe too that this is God's purpose for it. if done out of love and consencious with each other, sex is never a crime. But, my apologies to many, i don't agree on sex just for fun and lust. I believe sex becomes a sin if done this way. Sex done forcibly, meaning, without the consent of the other party, is crime indeed, and yes, should be punished to the full extent of the law.

I think all the answers lack one important point...
* Demography..
If you are a westerner, as I believe as most of the answerers here are, then their answers could be satisfying to you..
If you are not, then its a whole different issue..

you can enjoy sex if its happening with mutual concern. as per indian culture. only husband and wife doing sex is not a crime. if you are doing sex with other than your wife/husband then its crime/sin
