Of course I would play a gay role, I would find it challenging and interesting. The only roles I would NOT take were those associated too close to anything porn or on the border of erotica. STAY AWAY from that!

I'm straight, and I'm an actor, and I say probably. It's just the character kissing another character. It might be a little awkward the first time it happens, but that's what rehearsals are for! and as for actors who say "no way!", why not? That's what ACTING is, after all. A good actor or actress can lose them self in the character and actually become the person they are portraying, not caring about what goes on in their everyday life. So if this opportunity comes along to any of my fellow actors, I say, "Gentlemen; if you are man enough, just grin and bear it!"

I've kissed a lot of men on the stage. It's fine if you are in character - reacting to it as your character would react.
I have never kissed a woman. But I would do it. My take is that anybody who WOULDN'T do it - isn't much of an actor.
If you let YOURSELF get in the way of acting - that's going to be a problem over and over again - and your performances will not be believable. Actors are required to find the part of themselves that relates to the character. There is no part of ME that would kiss a woman - because I'm not gay. But - I WOULD kiss a person I loved - or a person who force me to kiss them - or a person I was trying to shock - or whatever the case may be. So - I'd relate to whatever the situation was - and find the commonality between myself and the character (sexual preference not being one of them) - and DO IT! That's what actors do.
Oh - and I'd do it whether or not the job was paying me. Money should never drive a performance level.

I would absolutely do it if it was part of the character I was playing. It's just acting.
I've always thought that kissing someone in a gay scene would be easier. Since I'm straight, there wouldn't be anything there but the mechanics and choreography. I was once in a play where I had to kiss this guy that I had a huge crush on in real life. It was SO difficult and I was embarassed and turned bright red and it was IMPOSSIBLE to stay in character. All I could think was, "Oh my God! I'm kissing my crush!"

I've had to kiss a guy onstage. I played the role of Clifford in a production of "Deathtrap," and, if you know the play, you know that there's no getting around it. When we got to that scene in rehearsals, we just went ahead and did it. Bottom line: if the play requires it, there's no arguing the point.
As actors, we're supposed to be all about telling the TRUTH in performance; we have to go where the character goes. If we accept a casting, then we've already committed ourselves to going for the full ride. I can't imagine a circumstance in which an actor or actress would be SURPRISED about having to engage in a same-sex kiss.

As a lesbian I have had to kiss a man on stage.
We were both very awkward about it: he knew my gf, and I knew his (and both were going to be in the audience on the first night).
But it was necessary - and we just rehearsed our way through any discomfort.
Two straight male friends were in a college production of "Bent" - again, kissing was necessary, so they just got on with the job.
Acting is acting: not real.

This is why I think I could never be a great actor: There are some things I simply would not do. So to answer the question, no, I probably would not.
May God bless you.

No. As a professional, you must draw the line somewhere. I do not think "highly" of performers who do this. I just think they have no values, what-so-ever. I do admire the actresses who refuse to do nude scene's or sex scene's. That is an attribute to be admired and for our youth to consider as role models.

sure. when you act gay it means nothing. and when you kiss someone it's just an act. nothing is behind it if you are straight. it's all in your head whether you let it be unusual blocking or something that means something.
