That's an interesting question - spiders, like many animals, have types that like to live alongside people (because the living's easy in a person's house, I guess). Other types prefer to live outside presumably because their hunting style or preferred food is found more outside. As a general rule, the types that spin orb-webs are found outdoors or on the outside of houses - there's not much flying insect traffic indoors, after all. Wandering hunters like jumping spiders or wolf spiders, and low-hunting web makers like house spiders can be found both indoors and outdoors. Some spiders, like Spitting Spiders, are found only indoors, but there are a lot fewer specifically indoor types. Now, there are certain species of spider that are found primarily indoors - anything called a House Spider would be a good bet, for instance (whether it is a comb-footed spider like Achareana tepidariorum - the messy-web house spider related to Black Widows, or a sheet-web spinner like Tegenaria domestica - the flat-web house spider related to the famous Hobo Spider).

Really spiders can live inside and outside. But If i had to choose a spider that is common in houses i would say the brown recluses.
