I'll make a list of a few points to help clear up a few misconceptions.
1. When a FREAKISH athlete is available you follow that golden rule of drafting the bes player available. Calvin (yes, first name basis) is 6'4' and runs a 4.4sec 40yd dash. Its like Randy Moss minus issues. Now yes, Mike Williams was "the best player available" last year. However, this was before he threw on some weight and decided that lil thing called speed was something an NFL reciever could get along without.
2. FIRE MILLEN is always always always in caps. No excuses.
3. The presidency? Please...is it "cool" and "hip" now to take a shot at the leader of the free world? Keep your politics out of the American Football section, son.
4. They need a QB? Sure, but if his name isn't Jamarcus Russel, I'm not interested. I'll take Kitna, thats right KITNA over Brady Quinn any day of the week and twice on tuesday.
5. They have a TON of needs. Trading down would be a smart choice, I wouldn't see a problem in that either but you think Millen could actually think of that? Does he know its legal to trade down? Does Millen understand human speech? Can anyone explain his poor choice in press conference sweaters?
6. Millen is not human. No one person could have peered into Mooch's piercing blue eyes and told him to get out without being, dare I say, enchanted. However, Millen is not human....has no soul...therefore this was possible. Was it the right move? I dunno yet but this new cat seems serious. (yea, cat...forgive my Sheedisim.)

No, I think they will trade their pick to the Falcons or Buccaneers, maybe even the Vikings. All this teams would want Calvin Johnson.
The Lions Have already Drafted a WR 3 of the last 4yrs. in the 1st round. Calvin Johnson will bring more heat on Millen if the team fails again in 2007, so it wont happen. They don't need a HB with Peterson, since they have made a few hires with T. Bell and T.J. Duckett. OT - Joe Thomas is off the board since they have hired Foster from the Broncos. QB - Brady Quinn should be their Answer but yet again the Organization doesnt feel like drafting a QB that high since their previous experience with Joey Harrington turned out a waste of a pick.

You know it surprises me that throughout every single mock draft that i have seen (at least 25 by diff. analysts) i have not seen a single one that had Calvin Johnson going to the Detroit Lions. Now do i think that the Lions will draft him? I have no idea, you could make a case for both ways. I know they have been spurned a few times by WR's drafted in the 1st round a few times (Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, even Roy Williams til this past season) but Calvin Johnson is on a whole diff. level, i never thought Charles Rogers was worth a damn and Mike Williams has been a disappointment but that has alot to do with the fact they hardly ever even try to play him, and he had to sit out an entire season and no WR is worth taking in the first round if they havent played football for a year. They need another WR to compliment the highly talented Roy Williams but they also need ALOT of other pieces. I mean they need another QB, Kitna is a backup. They need more help on the offensive line. They need more help defensively. There are plenty of ppl they could take but i think either Joe Thomas or Brady Quinn is going to be a Lion next year.
Speaking of "FIRE MILLEN", has anyone else ever had a job and absolutely screwed up every single decision theyve ever made and continued to work w/o any reprimands? I think the entire organization needs change at the top, every single person above coaches need to go, how the hell does Millen continue to work? He is AWFUL!!!!

Well, given his draft history, Calvin Johnson should be right in his line of site. I'm a diehard Browns fan, so I know all about being disappointed. BUT, at least Savage has a brain in drafting...actually pretty smart dude. I think I'm just as curious to see who Millen decides on, as I am seeing who the Browns pick up. I will probably cry laughing if he takes Calvin Johnson. Oh man that would be hilarious...not for you of course, but it has to start getting amusing at some point. Like us and our injuries. Getting mad is a point we passed about 3 years ago. Good luck man. I also don't have a dog. I like good football and only truly hate the Ravens and the Steelers, so I'd like to see Detroit to turn around. Only way to do that is to Fire Millen....not a question....he has to go. Of course he'll probably end up in Cleveland somehow......

I really hope the Lions trade down. They can use all the help they can get. Johnson, Quinn, Russell and Thomas all have a lot of appeal for team to trade up to the Lions' spot.
If they don't trade down, any of those would be reasonable picks, but I would go Johnson. I think he's the best player to come into the draft in a very long time (yes, better than Reggie Bush last year.) And unless you believe Mike Furrey is the long term answer at WR, we need another Receiver anyway.
But if he doesn't trade down, it will even reinforce the need to FIRE MILLEN!

FIRE MILLEN!!!
No. The Lions will trade down to get extra picks because the have so many holes to fill. FIRE MILLEN!!! If they don't get the right price for the #2 draft pick they may choose Joe Thomas from Wisconsin. Thomas could (possibly) turn the Lions line into something other than a laughingstock. I think he could be the best lineman the Lions would have since Lomas Brown. FIRE MILLEN!!!

He would look like such an idiot if he drafts Calvin Johnson only to have him be a bust just like Charles Rogers or whatever his name is and Mike Williams. Seriously, can't you get the message that drafting so WRs in the first round is risky and really not worth it? Millen is unbelievably awful. I'd be a much better GM. The only job being done worse in the country right now might be the US Presidency. Fire Millen.

No. The Lions will draft Brady Quinn because he had a strong NFL combine performance and he has a strong artwork ethic. Jon Kitna isn't a lengthy time period answer at QB. Quinn will deliver exhilaration to Detroit. i don't believe of Calvin Johnson will be a bust notwithstanding the Lions wasted 1st round alternatives on Charles Rodgers and Mike Williams.

Now with most teams you KNOW they wouldn't. I mean come on drafted a WR first round for what 3 years in a row? Most teams would never draft another WR in that position. Then you have Millen and the Lions. I swear I almost want to say of course they will.

No, They have Roy Williams they do not need another reciever he has demanding needs like 1000 yards per season and I don't think he can get that with Calvin Johnson sharing the catches. And since there is no way you can kick my dog "FIRE MILLEN"
