Currently I'm watching the Eyeball network, some report about suburban drug growers. The police officer in charge of the bust is shown saying "There were more than a thousand plants, at five to six thousand a plant, that's six million dollars worth of marijuana off the street." Now they're showing footage of them stripping some house and these plants are less than a foot high. They look like they're a couple of ounces maybe. I don't know less greenery than one of the green onions I bough this morning. Why doesn't the reporter bother to cry Bull--- to the officer obviously lying to him outright? Isn't a public official grossly inflating his success record a story?
And the news shows wonder why people would rather watch the Daily Show for news instead of their evening reports...

Some media outlets do challenge lies made by officials, they're just not listened to.

The majority of the media is owned by big business, who want their holdings to make them piles of money. Usually, people who make piles of money, like someone running the country who won't get in their way. For instance, since Bush is a big business supporter, why would any of these media companies want to put Bush in a bad spotlight? why would they want to lose access to the president unless the public had totally turned against him and it helped sell their stuff? Bush is now a lame duck president, without a majority in Congress or the public behind him-that's the only reason you're hearing negative stories against him now.

Same with the local news-the reporters don't want to lose access to the government officials or police, so why would they want to display them in a negative light? Unless the local editors and news managers were behind a reporter's story, how could a reporter get the truth even printed or released to the public, even if they took the chance and challenged the people who supply them with news updates and stories?

I assume the videos don't lie. Small plants grow into larger plants. That's why they, too, are destroyed. The media should report the facts and leave opinions to be public. I've seen attics set up for hydro that could make others very wealthy, but until it's legal, the cops have to do what they have to do. The media should do the responsible thing and report facts.
