If you mean the character, most superheroes have some sort of weakness. Spidey doesnt really. no kryptonite, nothing weird like that.

However, he does have the grounding that makes him so interesting to everyone else; Peter Parker is beset with the life problems we all could have, making him a lil more based on the reality we live in, which makes him an everyday hero.

Problems with the declining health of Aunt May, haunted by the death of his Uncle Ben whome he could have avoided, College problems when he was in school, his love life with Mary Jane, the conflict that JJ Jameson sets upon him by labelling him as a menace to the city as spiderman and yet needing the money to pay rent so peddles photos of himself. Boy cant seem to cut himself a break.

well...spiderman was the first superhero to really have a backround...

the marvel comics publishers told stan lee that he was crazy when he wanted to write a superhero's comic book about a teenager with actual teenage problem..

Parker has love problems, a job, a boss, an elderly aunt to take care of/protect, money problems....etc

Now as a superhero..spiderman has some unique powers..
a combination of mental/physical and technological..

Mental: parker has the unique ability to be forewarned of danger with his spidersense.
Physical: I have yet to see another superhero that can walk on walls.
Tech: parker made his own webshooter and webfluid...and his has different soultions for his web..sticky,normals,quick drying etc

Plus spiderman is superhuman strong..

also Spiderman/peter parker is more like the average reader...he is of average build...doesn't look like he is on roids..
and spiderman does get beaten..he is alot like batman..spidey is tough but still loses a few battles

He is young, a loner and a bit of an outcast (even by the hero community) so he hits the spot for all those who feel they are not part of the 'in' crowd.
