A practical man is one who can manage his affairs with the available resources including money. For this he need not resort to illegal practises such as corruption, tax evasion or any other illegal practise. On the other hand money mindedness reveals the mentality of a particular section of mankind who always thinks about money only such as Gujarati people in India. Such people can go to any extent for making money including illegal practises also.
Therefore, the two terms never resemble.each other.

Practical mind: money is nothing when compared to the enjoyable life. Money brings joy--but the real happiness lies when we forget the importance of money and start thinking about the importance of life. For eg., even poorest maybe happy in his life!!

Moneymindedness: being selfish, stingy, misery.
