I think that the death of a drama queen and a very lucky kid are making headline news for no reason. The things that have now become MSNBC topics have no business being on the air. This stuff is not news!!! Does anyone agree or have an opinion? Anna Nicole and Sanjaya have taken more spotlight on the TV Guide channel then anything else the past 2 months, does anyone see this as retarded other then me?

NO.

The show has been and always will be a laughing stock. Singing doesn't equal musical talent, the show is geared only towards 1 genre of music and not only that its the worst genre "pop music". These contestants aren't musicians they're blueprints for the American Idol record label. Since when did being a musician have anything to do with "a look"
I should be only be about ones ability to write songs, make their own music, play an instrument and be original. NONE of those things fit with ANYONE who's EVER been on this joke of a show. They do nothing but cram these people down our throats via, Crappy Mtv, radio and now the news (I've heard more about Sanjaya these past two weeks than I have about the British Hostages in Iran.) After they fill the airways with this crud and pay stations to feed us this garbage they get Grammy's for airplay and 12 year old girls buying the albums, oh and for those that say... "It takes talent to win a Grammy's." all I have to say to that is Vanilla Ice and Milli Vanilli.

American Idol is nothing but propaganda for the Fox network.
something to keep your eyes off REAL issues going on in the world.

4.) "Free and Fair Trade" Exploiting workers around the world and taking away Jobs from hard working Americans.
5.) The American People being fed up with foreign policy
6.) Rising Cost of Education. ( I HAD TO SELL DRUGS just to pay for tuition for a "STATE" College. "FSU")
7.) Growing Gap between the Rich and Poor of this Country.
8.) The fact that it takes TWO JOBS in ONE HOUSE JUST TO GET BY in this country.
9.) The Bubbled Housing Market (The show "Flip this house" had a 2 bedroom home in "SOUTH CENTRAL L.A." listed for $425,000 post flip.. ALMOST A HALF A MILLION DOLLARS.)
10.) The fact that Bill O'reilly is a Douche Bag.

I completely agree. I don't understand why these people, and other famous people are always in the spotlight. Why do people care so much about these people who aren't even friends with them, let alone know about their existence. Look at the death of Anna Nicole Smith, it affected so many people, and so many teenagers, and the question is why? These people don't know her, let alone know anything about her that hasn't been on her fan based website. I think there is too much emphesis put on stars when people should give more of a damn about their own lives and communities. More people heard about Anna Nicole and Sanjaya than a community girl who died from starvation, or maybe the news about a store that recently caught on fire. What people should think about is, Why are these people so important to them?

I believe they are not worthy of the kind of attention that the media has been giving them. Sanjaya is not one you can label as a talented singer. He is being used by some organizations as their means to an end. Anna Nicole, on the other hand, was a sex symbol who made several wrong choices in her life. Covering her life and death on TV, newspapers, internet and all other means of communication should be more than enough to pay tribute to her. Her glamorous but sad life is not something anybody would want their kids to emulate.

I can only agree with you and say that these two people making the headlines they are making is mind-numbing, mind-boggling, and scary as all get out! The sad thing is that because people tune in, they just keep getting more attention. But how do you not pay attention? It's like a car accident. You know you shouldn't look, but you can't help it. There's so much more to life than this stuff. Our society is so messed up it's not even funny. Not really sure how it can be fixed, but promoting this mindless entertainment is not helping. Even MSNBC has fallen into the trap of giving the public what it wants. Sad......

Sanjaya maybe, because then he might realize how much he's not loved by so many people. Anna Nicole Smith, no. I'm so incerdibly tired of hearing about her. The fact that one person has become so special that everytime you turn on the news or look in a magazine and they're in there, is sickening.

They are not worth it at all!!

Yes, it's sad that Anna Nicole Smith died, leaving a motherless baby girl behind.

And yes, it's sad that America has become fixated on a show that is rigged and more corrupt than ever.

And yes, it's retarded that MSNBC is a waste of airspace and have nothing better to do that drone on about insignificant events for hours at a time, repeating the same footage ad nauseum while the world rages on...

The almighty dollar is the problem and the answer to this question

I would much rather turn off the TV as my source for news and go to a reliable source like the Bible. World Net Daily is non biased and they only spread the facts about what is truly happening in the world around us. The illegal immigration issue?? What about the proposed North American Union which is well under way? By the time people start listening, or caring, it will be too late. We have become a fat, complacent culture that requires instant gratification and little to no thought process going on upstairs.

NO and you forgot to add Britney Spears, people are so obsessed with her now they are talking about the fact that she wears hats and goes to the dentist (I saw that as yahoo news headlines when I signed in to check my email). Everyone knows Anna Nicole either did it to herself or Howard K. Stern murdered her and American Idol along with the rest of the reality shows need to be axed all together.

Thank you! You have just said everything I've felt. Celebreties lives aren't that great, but they have money and drinks and go to hot parties. People think that's the life they want, and they think the way to get it is to be close to celebs. Now obviously, we don't know "stars" so we get close to them by sharing their problems and talking about them as if they were someone who impacted our lives. Yes, it is dumb. Yes, it is the reality of what the world is coming to.

i think it is soooo rediculus how much time that the media are spending on these two stories. i haven't really watched the news in a while because of this. anna has passed and they should just let her rest in peace and save her baby from future therapy because of this media frenzie!!
