Why do the Rangers raise their sticks in the center of the rink after a win?

It's saluting the fans. But my bet is you were watching that tonight - the final home game of the regular season. It isn't something they do every game.

It is a tradition brought over from Europe. It is a way of saying "Thank You" to the fans.

It is done when we win; in Europe, it is after every game.

A "thanks" to al lthe fans . . . and really professional and classy thing to do. More pro sports teams and players should show this kind of appreciation and respect to the fans. Pretty impressive.
