If you are talking about a "suburban use" vehical where its mainly used on snow covered roads and such the full time AWD is the ticket. Now if you are talking a down and dirty rock climber the part time 4WD with all the guards and plates available is the ticket.

Depends on how the AWD is setup.

In a car like Nissan Skyline R34, with that ATESSA-ETS AWD, is technically a part-time AWD, as by default it acts as a rear-wheel drive (all torque goes to rear wheels). HOWEVER, it could put up to 50% of torque to the front wheels, acting like a true 4WD car, up to computer control depending on the dynamic situation of the vehicle. Thus, it has the advantages of AWD, as well as the advantages of RWD.
