If people could vote for the president with their cell phones, I bet alot more people would do it. A lot of people aren't even registered to vote!

That's F-ing Stupid!! It Makes Me Mad To Hear Such A Thing. Even Though Its True. We As Americans Are Lacking in Political Concerns. But We Must Also Take Into Concern That, Not Everyone That Votes For American Idol Is Old Enough To Vote Politically.

I really don't know where you are getting your facts. You have 30 million votes for American Idol every week and over 80 million for the presidency in 2004. On top of this people can vote multiple times on American Idol so in reality you have way more people voting for the presidency. It's sad that you are such a moron!

More people vote for the American Presidency than vote for American Idol.
A little research would help before asking a question like this.

Consider the millions of votes from teenagers not old enough to vote yet and that number is cut down considerably. I know so many people that are older who watch Idol, but don't bother voting for the contestants. I also wonder whether each vote counts or they just count one vote from each phone number when tallying up that figure. Last year, I voted for Taylor Hicks in the finale until my fingers went numb. When they reported the final voting figures did they count all 100+ of my votes or just my phone number as one vote? Not really clear on that and yeah, I know. 100 times? Hey, give me a break (grin), I was into it. I watch so much serious TV, lots of political stuff and documentaries. I watch Idol for the relaxing mindlessness of it all. Sometimes you just want to veg and not think too much. Nothing wrong with having a little mindless fun once in a while.

The sad part is, doesn't it cost money to vote for American Karaoke, er... Idol?
Dn't let the figures mislead you. I'm not saying it's not correct, but the show only looks at how many votes are actually cast, and I think you can vote as many times as you want. So, there are more votes cast, but not necessarily by more people. Of course, I don't pay attention to the show, so I could be dead wrong. Just trying to have some faith in the government.

Many people who vote on American Idol vote multiple times for their candidate of choice! They are teens! Voting is done in the comfort of their cell phones and no lines are involved! Usually better choice of candidates are offered at American Idol than American president! Therefore no I am not sad!

Probally because thats not true.
109 million people voted for President in the last election.
Only around 33 million votes were cast for american idol, and no one knows how many of those were cast by the same people voting more than once.

Don't the cell phone companies just love the idol shows? I hear from a reliable source one 15year old girl in this city ran up a $1200 phone bill voting for some pretty face on the moronoscope last year. If you allowed cell phone voting and put no lower age limit on the presidential vote, Brad Pitt might win.
