He's pretty self assured for a 17 year old, and he's actually sort of funny. Melinda and others are obviously better singers, but he did add a variable that the show might have needed to kick up the ratings. I can't wait to see what becomes of good ole Sanjaya. He's been a very good sport, and I think some of the criticism has been unwarranted. He's a comedic breath of air.

Actually he has made it less credible...the show is a joke now...he can't sing!

I agree with the person 3 stories up....all this "hoopla" is adding fuel to the fire and helping his SORRY popularity.

I totally agree. Sanjaya may not have a good voice yet, but he definitely can be trained. After his stint with Tony Bennett, Sanjaya put up (as Simon Cowell, Sanjaya's worst foe described) an incredible performance! The whole package he delivered on April 3 2007 was stunning. Paula Abdula was star struck too. When Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Madonna enters the stage - the audience wants to see theatrics, and singers pile those on. Sanjaya is on his way to becoming very big.....and American Idol may be his launch pad...Besides, Sanjaya has kept his cool under the blistering criticisms he had to endure - not many adults can do that, let alone a 17 year old kid.

I don't think that Sanjaya is something that Idol needed. People for a long time to come will remember the joke that is Sanjaya. Whether he kicked up the ratings is not definitely because there are many people who will not watch Idol so as long he is still there. Maybe what Idol needs is to let people vote against bad contestants. So votes for and against cancel each other out, sometimes more against than for!

Contraversy makes good publicity. Same as in "The View" Rosie says and does strange and outlandish things, makes people more interested, so yes.

I don't care for Sanjaya. He's not very talented. And the more people say this, wich is completly true, it makes the teeny-boper pre-teens vote all the more. It's kinda sad because some talented people are going home that would have stayed. And I for one think he is a bit too feminine. bleh.

And what's more you see the those decade review shows that bring back those horrible memories like mullets and such. I can see it now... Sanjaya? What where we thinking!?

the fact of the situation is that Sanjaya became no longer a stable singer in any factors. Even his terrific overall performance, Besame Mucho, did no longer study to the countless frontrunner's worst performances. i think of the judges thoguht he did need to make the right 24, yet that became via fact there have been worse singers, plus he did ok for the period of his auditions. yet commencing together with his strange overall performance for the period of the 2d week of the semifinals, the Sanjaya contreversy began. This became the comparable week that he stayed over AJ Tabaldo, who became between the terrific men on the tutor. the comparable factor occurred the subsequent week with Sundance. in fact, he became the single on the hook with the guy being voted off for the 1st 4 weeks of the stay tutor. (With Rudy, with AJ, with Sundance, and with Brandon, all of them leaving with Sanjaya secure.) After he became interior the backside 2 the right 12 week, Vote For the Worst had extensive fulfillment, and he became no longer interior the backside for many weeks, that's whilst he went domicile. The week he went domicile, i do no longer understand how he did. it could have been that u . s . of america have been given ill of him. VFTW would have been slacking. that's achievable that he did no longer get the backside votes, yet American Idol replaced the outcomes (even regardless of the shown fact that I doubt it.) I additionally heard that united states followers do in comparison to that song he sang. i do no longer understand if Idol will regain its followers' have faith. consistent with probability the people who did no longer like Sanjaya will say that considering the fact that he ultimately have been given sent domicile, they're going to have faith Idol lower back. Or they'd say that he became on for too long, and that they're going to no longer have faith the tutor. the those that did like Sanjaya would say that considering the fact that he had one in all those long-term they're going to have faith Idol. Or they'd say that considering the fact that they'd have ditched their regulations as properly Sanjaya, they gained't have faith Idol. universal, that's a great question, and the respond is it relies upon on the guy.

OF COURSE IT HAS! People love comedy! But i think everyone is makin too much of a deal out of sanjaya. He is just trying to do what everyone on the show is, and its turning into a huge story. I feel sorry that he has all this controversy. And his voice is OK.

I must admit that seem to be watching the show just to see what hair style he will have on each episode. I know people are openly joking about him, but it's obviously there is a fan base out there who are calling in more than the others. Although the others can sing better, you have to admit that he has a certain style of his own. I believe that is what has appealed to the younger audience...who all have cell phones! He is a show man in a sense that you nor I can understand.

Last weeks votes were the most for the season. But are the votes just to see another ponytail-mohawk????? I think it's a joke, he's yet to sing a good, or even not bad song. The only thing he's got now is the telemarketers voting for him and people that like the stupid antic he tries to do each week. PACK YOUR BAG YOU NO SINGING TALENT WASTE OF AIR, SANJAYA. DAWG YA SUCK!!!!!

He has made it the topic of much discussion and frustration..

Ironically, all the desire to get rid of him fuels the motivation to keep him. All people need to do is shut up and let it be. When the people who are voting for him don't see the frustration anymore, they will be less motivated...

I should know, I'm one of them... and seeing the anger and frustration from others is very satisfying...
