Yes. Use cold/cold. Most dark clothing contains heavy dye content and washing them in cold water insures that less "bleeding" occurs. Cold water also prevents your clothes from shrinking so much.

The first time you wash something (that is very dark), you should wash it out by hand. If it does lose a lot of its dye, you won't ruin the rest of your clothes.

It keeps the color from fading or "running" (color leaking onto other clothes). After repeated washings the color will eventually start to fade but it will fade faster in warm or hot water. That's why you dont mix light and dark colors even in cold water.

Just go by the label.

For the bachelor looking for low-maintenance wash, throw your jeans and hardy hoodies with your undies and socks in the "warm" cycle, everything else in "cold."

If you want low-maintenance washing, throw everything in "cold' - you're guaranteed to not hurt anything (but not the best quality wash).

Cold water would be best, you also should turn it inside out. sometimes it is best not to put it in the dryer it can ruin the color. if you do put it in the dryer, use low setting, and take it out immediately after it is done.
