Any time is a good time to purchase stocks. It just depends on which company s you invest in. By investing in big companies whose stock prices typically stay at the same relative price are less likely to generate you any money. Investing in small companies, gives the company the chance to grow and raise their stock prices, having you being able to sell the stocks at more then you had previously purchased, Unfortunately, this also generates risk, if the company fails and forecloses, you never receive your money back, and your stocks are virtually worthless.

Seriously, look into metals/mining.( China.Lat AM,Asia still growing and building!)... PCU, BHP, RTP,PKX
If you think " corn" is a play, DBA is an Agricultural ETF that covers four or five diff grain mkts..( just in case the ethanol thing is overblown...grain prices are still rising and cover all bases.)
A lot of " refiners" are having great runs right now...FTO, WNR, TSO, ALJ...they're more short term ( now 'til July/Aug)
A play for some quick money ( maybe) next week is RIMM...quarterly report on Wed. they will blow past expectations and could jump 4 to 7% in a day or two.
Of course these are all just opinions...but I am in at least half of what I mentioned ( and def buying RIMM on Mon. morn)
Good luck

Lets see gas costs a dollar to make and ethanol costs dollar fifty to make. Do your research first then decide, make wise choices.
If you are young invest in the long haul in a good stable company.
Short term is alright if your willing to lose sometimes which is high risk game.
If you like energy stocks try wind , solar , re-newable items etc...

Exxon-Mobil, symbol XOM. It's fantastic. I love watching all those SUVs on the road, thinking that they're spending a lot of money to fill up, and I can get some of those profits.
