I am 21 in college and can't drive and staying on campus, but my father is just staying with his mother and he has to come and get me from college and I have to stay over there when I am not on campus. His mother is very senile and is particular about us using electric and taking showers, so much that we are even afraid to do so. My cousin is also staying there with her 1 year old twin boys and her 8 year old son, as is my uncle. It is very difficult for us to live like this, so my father wants to move out into his own place again. The only trouble is my father is retired and only gets $670/month and is unemployed, and all of the housing is Maryland is wayy to expensive. I see plenty of cheap houses in other states, but none in Maryland. We do not want to hassle with subsidized housing or the like because it is too much trouble. All we want is a place in PG county, Maryland or further south where we can just go right now and the rent will be less than $670/month. Any suggestions?

You can contact the local housing authority in that area and apply for rental assistance. If he is retired and is "displaced" because of your living situation, you will have preference. Go to the website below and find the specific office for the area you may want to move to.
Best of luck to you both!

well sweetie besides rent there will be groceries and electric bills, water bills, and so forth. Could your dad talk to someone at the Department of Human Resources to plan what to do? Please, please stay in college so you won't have to live this way all your life. I know that living in the deep South is cheaper than other states. Would you consider moving at the end of semester to a southern college? You probably qualify for a lot of money toward your tuition with your family income. If you get student loans you can have them pardoned if you are a full-time nurse, or if you teach school in a poor area. Check into it at the college financial dept. Ypu really need to get away from grandma, but you could think of it as being just another 2 or 3 years with her until you can get your own job and apartment. Best wishes and a prayer!
