I agree that it is rather boring, but I watch it for the few good singers on there. This may change in the near future should another undeserving contestant win.

I come from a sort of rare position in that I never watched Ai until THIS season. I think most people since the show has been around so long have watched it at least on and off over the years but I resisted and just had no interest in it at all until this year. I guess this year I just wanted to finally see what the show was all about, and I have two close friends who watch it too who I thought it would be fun to talk about the show with.

However I think I may have waited too long to check it out because from what I am reading in articles online, the show may have reached a point where it is no longer any good. I find it interesting to hear different people's voices in the competiton and get an idea of what good singers vs. bad singers are. I like how the first few weeks of the show, with the auditions across the country, are actually quite fun to watch. I think a lot of people want to laugh at how funny some of the bad people are. Me being a new viewer to the show I found these moments to be pretty funny seeing them for the first time. Then the show kind of becomes a completely new show when they narrow it down to the smaller groups. The fact that if you started watching at the beginning of the season and stick with it makes you kind of go along on the ride of seeing and hearing the journey of the contestants each week, I guess that is part of what makes me keep wanting to tune in because sometimes I wonder why I still watch. At some point if you've been watching from the start, curiosity sets in and you kind of HAVE to find out who will leave this week.

Funny thing is though that I Dvr record the series each week and I don't even keep up with it currently I am behind a few shows but whenever I open Yahoo which is my home page I can't avoid seeing the news headline of who got voted off. At some point you can just read about who gets voted off without watching and still kind of be in the loop and keeping up that way. But if you are a fan of music at all it IS kind of neat to see their renditions of popular songs. Oh yeah and actually I found Dvr recording and watching it a little later you can fast foward through some of the songs and boring parts, makes it easier to watch and quicker.

To see singers shine or fail into oblivion and probably never be seen again, and judged very harshly by Simon because he tells it like it is.

That was the reason I watched it, because if your going to bother showing up at auditions with no experience in singing or just suck, you deserve to be criticized.

If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. But don't whine, cry, and beg how you didn't advance cause Simon didn't like your performance. Take it like a man, and move on.

I watch it because I like to hear great singers. I always change the channel when Sanjaya comes on, plus my favorite show is in hiatus right now so it is better than nothing right!!

people still like to be entertained and yes american idol is entertaining. look at it like you would football , you pick your favorite team and hope they go to the play-offs. the only difference is you help choose who goes, like voting for the pro bowl.

Me too. Heck, I haven't watch a single minute of it beyond its commercials. Yet, I know a lot about it from other people and the media... sad really...

Because they have no life, wishing that they could be apart of something like that. Instead of making something out of them selves, they rely on fantasy.
