No, FiremanT, by giving other answers a thumbs up you are not reducing your own chance to be chosen as best answer.
Do you choose the best answer to your questions by the number of thumbs up or down an answer has?
I bet you DO NOT.
A also think that in this P&S category, very few people are concerned about the points or receiving best answer.
Generally, they are here to have fun and just hang with their regulars.
~~ Glad to see your back in the asking groove! ~~

I actually don't care if I get best answer. I have enough points and best answers. I use thumbs sparingly. I usually only give them if an answer is particularly good or exceptionally bad. I really don't think most askers pay much attention to the thumbs when choosing best answer. I don't even look at the thumbs when I'm picking a best answer.

If I like the answer or it makes me laugh I give it a thumbs up. If the asker thinks it's best then I am cool with that. I do wonder why people go through and give everyone a thumbs down though. I just don't get the point!

I don't see it like that! I like to share the love even if that means I don't get picked for best answer! Besides what gets others to check thumbs up isnt always what I'm looking for in a best answer. What gets others exited or pissed has no bearing on my own oppinion. I choose how I see fit. And others might feel the same way I do. Who knows?

The concept of this voting system was good but flawed from the get go. There are those who spend more time jumping from question to question giving thumbs up or down (and never really reading the answer) than they spend answering or asking themselves.
I use to think about what you suggest but now it means nothing to me as most people realize what I have just pointed out.

I do not always read every ones answers cause I'm too busy on to the next question. I give thumbs up usually to answers that make me laugh and thumbs down only to ones that are trying to be nasty.

How would that reduce your chances? I always give thumbs ups...never thumbs down and I still manage to get best answer occasionally.

i can't give thumbs ups anyhow now cause yahoo deleted my account so i'm back on level 1. i guess it depends on if the person who asked the question picks the best answer by how many thumbs ups it has. but when i was on level 2 before my account was deleted, i almost never gave thumbs ups to other answers to questions i'd answered cause then it would make my answer look bad that it didn't have one.

Thumbs down .. thumbs up... whatever. I am a self thinker and I choose the answer I like the best, not the ones my other answerers liked best.

It may be but if I like everyones answers I can't help but support them. It's just to hard to turn them away, because I want to know their opinions or I wouldn't ask or come on here
It took me a while before I could figure out how to vote correctly for my best answer for my questions. I read the Yahoo description and dummy me couldn't get a grasp on it for a while. I'll admit it- I sound like a Yahoo- but that's the way we country people is.Yall excuse me for my ignorance!!!
