I poke a small hole in the "top" of the egg and a slightly larger hole in the bottom. That bottom hole I put a long pick in and break up the yoke so it is easier to get out. Blow hard on the top hole, be careful you don't hold it too hard and break it.
Then I put it in an egg box and give it to my girls to colour with markers.
I'm not sure how to prevent the eggs from filling up with dye if you were to dunk them but I guess it would keep them from floating.
Pysanki tools are wonderful but not for children: hot wax. They allow you to create very thin lines and fine designs in a batik method. Sometimes people use crayons instead.

If you do want to empty the eggs use a pin to make a pin hole at the narrow end of the egg and a bigger hole at the wide end of the egg. (Push the pin in and rotate it around, "grinding" shell away until the hole is the size you want.)
Then hold the egg over a dish or something and blow through the small hole into the egg. The egg should come out the bottom, be careful though, the shell is fragile. If you are planning on keeping the decorated eggshell you should wash it out with water and be sure it is dry before you paint it.

Not sure why you want to empty the egg...I boil the eggs first and make sure they are cold before dying. To boil, place eggs in pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Then I turn the stove off and let them sit in the hot water for 10 minutes. After that, I pour out the hot water, put cold water and ice on them until they are cool.
As for dying, I have used tablets and regular food coloring. Directions are on the packages as they are all a little different. Some dying kits come with stickers and crayons to draw on the eggs. Hope this helps you.

Place eggs in a pot of cold water. Add about a tablespoon of vinegar and bring to boil. Boil eggs until done-about 3 -5 minutes. Run cold water over eggs and then you are ready to color them. Pour about a 1/4 cup of vinegar (clear) in a cup and add about 4-5 drops of food coloring. Place egg in cup until desired hue is achieved.
To dye empty eggs. Poke a hole in both ends of the egg and blow out the egg. (I personally prefer the above method.) Then just proceed to dye them.
To make patterns use a white crayon to draw the design then dye egg.
Happy Easter!!

Normally there's a small pump you can get to empty out the egg, you can probably buy one at any store that sells easter goods.
In the same store you can probably purchase a kit to dye the eggs and decorate them.

buy a mould from big w get cookink chocolate from woolies. go home melt chocolate pour in mould. remove upper half of mould tap out chocolte then using a lighter melt the 2 halves together. be sure to ask an adult to help with the lighter.
if u want to make them from real eggs then wash and dry the egg. puncture a small hole at the small end of egg with a big needle.puncture a bigger hole at the large end, making sure you puncture the egg yolk. place egg over a bowl and blow through the small hole until all of the inside is removed. rinse the shell with cold water and allow to dry thoroughly. (Use the raw egg for an omelette, quiche or scrambled eggs.)
Make Your Own Easter Egg Dye from Food Colors
To make your own dye gather together enough cups for each color you want to create and that are big enough to hold the liquid dye and a submerged egg. Mix 2/3 cup of water and 2 tsp. distilled vinegar and food coloring in each cup. Add food coloring one drop at a time until you obtain the desired color (about a 1/4 tsp or about 24 drops of food coloring). Be sure to completely cool this mixture before allowing children to use it.
Experiment with creating colors. Here are some ideas to create different colors with the four colors (red, blue, green, yellow) that you usually get in food coloring packages.
Orange - mix about 10 drops of red with about 15 drops of yellow
Turquoise - mix about 5 drops green with about 20 drops of blue
Violet - mix about 12 drops red with about 12 drops blue
Before dipping the eggs in the dye, use a wax crayon and draw on the egg. Where ever you write on the egg, the egg will remain white.
Get a assortment of rubber bands and put them on the egg. The egg will remain white under the rubber bands. You can also use masking tape to keep areas of the egg white

You dont empty the egg. You just boil it. Color it with food coloring and vinegar and water, or with a easter egg food coloring kit. You put them in the fridge over night until the morning and you eat them. Good luck.

This is how i used to do it.
i think you hard-boil them first then you don't have to "empty" them at all.
There are dyeing kits all over the place this time of year, they come with color tablets, stickers, design stuff.
Boil the eggs, put the tablets in cups of (vinegar?) water, then soak those eggs! Patterns are hard though.

go to WalMart. Buy eggs. Buy egg decor kit. Read instructions on the kit. Then get creative. Add stickers. Write on them with markers. Put your thumbprint on one. Make faces on them. Glue on ric-rac. Glitter. Fun!
