He has done nothing but [try] to sing...his only reason for being there, as the same with everyone else. But what people don't understand...is...he is not voting himself on the show...the American audience is the one voting to keep him on. He said himself, he does not sing as well as the others on the show. The people in America are the ones that are taking the only chance that a lot of these young talented people have at a career. A lot of people bash him in more ways than one...but no one wants to put the blame on the millions of haters that are ruining the shows credibility. He has nothing to do with any of what is going on. The show itself is a great one. It is becoming a center for people who hate all that is good. Taking a persons chance at having a sucessful life as a singer away from them, just because you don't like Simon Cowel, or Paula ...maybe even Randy Jackson, is a shamful act in itself, then to put all the blame on a young man that has nothing to do with it....ashame...

missing the point...of coarse everyone on the show is better than him...but we are hating him instead of calling out the haters that are runing the show...for the others... that are good....he has nothing to do with any of it.

I totally agree with what you said.
They are bashing a young man that is trying to reach for his dreams and trying to get noticed, but so many people act ridiculously rude by bashing a 17 year old kid!

He can sing, but I think nerves have a lot to do with things, but I give him props for doing the damn thing with all the pressures of millions saying negative things and especially with the 3 judges making snippy comments.

People should realize that this is a singing contest yes, but it's always a popularity contest as well.
Take it for what it is and enjoy the show and ease up on the hate peoples.

We have Howard Stern (the shock-jock talk show host, not Anna Nicole Smith's lawyer/boyfriend) to thank as he is the one that started his listeners on the "Vote for The Worst" as he has always had a burr up his behind about American Idol as it is too "mainstream" value based for his bizarre tastes.

I find it appaulling the way this poor 17 year old boy is being bashed; no, I don't think he is a great singer either or should be in the running; however, I have to give him credit for not only handling the controversy/bashing with grace and style, but having the guts to wear the faux-hawk he did a week ago...that takes guts. Most adults would not be able to take all of the public flack he has and would drop out.

His adopting the William Hung attitude of knowing, ok, I can't sing all that great, but I enjoy doing it and love making beople smile and if my singing can make people smile or laugh, it is all worth it will win out in the end.

As for the other singers on the show that are better, they have gotten national exposure and the cream will rise to the top, just like Chris Daughtry, who was made it to the top 3 before being voted out, has. I never hear a Taylor Hicks or Catherine McPhee song on the radio, but hear Daughtry's song "It's Not Over" nearly every morning on the radio and at Sony Online, it was the #1 album.

He's not all that horrible, I believe he is really, really nervous. Each week he has to listen to people ranting about him not being able to sing and now this show isn't even about making a album for him. He goes on stage every week now thinking, 'I gotta show them I can sing.' His brain no longer says 'Let me go out here and show these people what I got.' After they chose the top 20 and he did his first performance, his vocals were a lot better than they are now; however, he was boring and the judges jumped down his throat about it. He was meek and timid then, now he's trying to change who he is and come out of his shell and it's looks and sounds really awkward. It's not his fault America wants to put him through this. It's not his fault little girls love him and his hair. He's only there because our people keep him there. And I believe he really only stays as an attempt to show people that he does have talent. He is just not succeeding. In the end, he's a kid and we should not be bashing him the way we are. It's gonna mess this young boy up forever.

Sanjaya is the best thing about American Idol. This show was never about finding the best singer. It's a reality tv show where Simon loves to humiliate people for fun and amusement.

The judges chose all the singers so they are to blame. Last year Kelli Pickler should have been eliminated long ago but she was interesting - not the best singer and is now doing better sales wise than the winner is. Madonna, Britney and Jessica Simpson are not the BEST singers but they are sexy and have charm - something Sanjaya has alot of also.

The judges did not choose the best singers because many of them are ugly and plain. Is Antonella Barba a great singer? No but she was put through to the next round even though she forgot the lyrics. Simon doesn't want ugly and plain people on the show. He got rid of Jennifer Hudson a few years ago and called her FAT. This year to forgive himself and prove to America he doesn't hate fat people he is praising Lakisha. He should have praised Jennifer Hudson before. It's only when people called him on his fat discrimination is he being nice to fat contestants like Lakisha and not making fun of their weight like he used to do before.

Blame the judges. This show was never about being the BEST singer. It's a tv show about good looking singers with charm. But Blake and Chris and Jordan and Melinda have some charm but Sanjaya has alot of charm!!!

Only Sanjaya is really having fun with it and it shows. He's a cool cat man!!

I think people bash him because a lot of people ten times better than him have been voted off this season, and it's infuriating. You know, have you heard for that Vote For the Worst thing Howard Stern is backing? It's to sabotage American Idol, and they have picked Sanjaya as the worst, thus giving him votes.

I like Sanjaya, I really do. But I think other people deserved to be in his place more.

I like the way he sings, he's always smiling and looks like he's having alot of fun.
I love his new hair styles he sports every week and he gets alot of attention.
So keep bashing him, that's what he wants because negative attention is better than no attention and it's working for him.

There is a site that tells people to vote for the WORST singer and he is the WORST singer. We aren't putting the blame on him, he just sucks!
