I live here in Maine because it's where I was born. The weather is not as extreme as a lot of people think. Sure, we have occasional strings of days when the temperature won't reach double digits. But the payoff is in the summer when it's a nice 75 degrees in the day and we don't overheat and we can sleep comfortably at night.

In the winter, we have heat in our homes just like everybody else. We can go skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, and snowshoeing outdoors. The cold isn't that bad when you're moving around.

In the spring, summer, and fall, we can go biking, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, camping -- you name it. Maine has splendid fall foliage. You can't get that in Florida, California, Arizona, Texas, or even New York City. The air here is cleaner than in large metropolitan areas. The crime rate is low.

We have mountains, hills, lakes, ponds, forests, the ocean -- all within an hour's drive of one another. The scenery isn't boring.

We don't have to go anywhere to enjoy each of the four seasons.

I live in Maine and have lived here fore most of my life. Yes, the winters are cold, but you get used to it after a while. The summers are unbelievable. They are almost NEVER too hot. Our summers make our winters worthwile. Maine is a beautiful place to live. Just ask Martha Stewart, John Travolta, Stephen King and Patrick Dempsey (who all have homes here). Even though we have to deal with frigid winters year after year, we dont live in hurricane alley or tornado central which I'm sure are more difficult to deal with. The Maine way of life is something that should not go unnoticed, either. You'll never find a more polite, positive, more willing-to-help group of people no matter where you go. If you've never been to Maine, I highly recommend it. It is a beautiful place with wonderful people and we have so much to offer!

S. and a rainforest. the 1st place I moved replaced into Florida. I suffered in the initiating, yet interior of a few weeks i replaced into complaining that 70 replaced into chilly. I in basic terms moved to warmer places from there and that i now like it. super element approximately being human is we adapt okay to our surroundings, in spite of our pores and skin shade. Survival of the fittest. If i will stay to tell the tale one hundred twenty+ diploma climate being a easy white woman who easily hates the sunlight, a black person can stay to tell the tale and thrive interior the chilly. I hate the chilly. I continuously have and that i continuously will. i'm lower back up north now and that i'm waiting for the snow and chilly to gtfo.

Most of the time because that is the area where they grew up and they don't know any better. Sure they see better weather elsewhere but they tell themselves that they like it there, friends and family are there, etc. It is just a difference of opinion. Fortunately, we all don't think alike because no one would be in North Dakota and everyone would be in California.

Demographics. Some people are poor or were born into lower middle class families, which tend to reside in those climates and travel or explore less. (Do YOU want to get up, move around and see what else is out there when its 15 below? I didn't think so. More affluent people tend to live in desirable, warm climates as they are usually financially able to decide to leave a cold or freezing area in search of a better life...to put it VERY briefly and shortly. (...perhaps even a little offensively? LOL)

There are a lot of people who enjoy cold weather. And those who physically have trouble with hot weather(e.x. people who are prone to heat stroke or who have trouble staying hydrated). I personally like winters in new england. i love snow, cold, and especially wood fires. The biggest benefit, though, is the seclusion that you get up north, you don't have to deal with people if you don't want. Personally, i think it makes you like them more.

the cold weather isn't that bad, i promise. I actually love it.
Skiing/Snowboarding is also a huge incentive for a lot of people.

Canada and Maine are not always cold. What are you talking about? I went to Toronto last June and it was like 85 degrees.

maybe because they like the cold climate. for instance here in the Philippines its so hot so you cant really enjoy because you re sweating everywhere. OR maybe they just like staying inside sitting near the fireplace and drinking hot cocoa. or maybe they are just indoor peopleü

Because you can cuddle up with your loved ones and pets under a warm blankie. And you can eat steaming hot bowls of yummy chili. And enjoy hot cocoa. Mmmm. And you can build snow people, have snowball fights and go sledding... WOO!
