Why do you think that most exes cannot remain or be friends after breakups? My guess is that feelings are still hurt and/or lingering...

Out of my six ex-girlfriends, one's my roommate, one's my best friend, three would be happy to see me if we ran into each other at a bookstore or something, and one would probably try to kill me. I think I'm doing all right, all things considered.

On average, from what I've seen, I'd say maybe one in four.

I think that you are right about the feelings of resentment towards the other person. I think that maybe less than 3% or so.
