Hey, i've had braces on since the start of April last year :) you will still be able to eat most foods, although at first you might not feel like eating hard things that you have to bite into like apples or hard sweets. Things like toffee and chewing gum are not ideal either, you can eat them if you really want to but they require a lot of cleaning up afterwards. Also beware of hard nuts and seeds, even popcorn - if you're not careful it can be very easy to snap a wire whilst eating them. Sandwiches take a bit of practice but you'll get used to it soon enough. It can be very painful to eat the first few days after you get them on, so stick to soft, easy to eat foods. Soup, mashed potato, ice cream, soft bead, etc. Anything you like really, and as soon as your teeth start feeling a bit less fragile again, you can start trying everything else :)

When I was first adjusting to braces (and yes I had a few issues with the spacers too before I got the actual braces) I had to actually go liquids for a couple of days because trying to eat hurt me.
I would recommend getting in touch with the orthodontist to see what they suggest as well.

Mashed potato's and gravy. Health shakes, anything that you could put in a blender I guess.
