You're in month six...but not finished with it. You'll be six months when you've been pregnant for a WHOLE six months, not when you start the sixth month. So whe you start the sixth month in your book, you're still five months pregnant because you've only been through 5 months but you're working on the 6th. It's weird and confusing, I know. I uaully just go by weeks, it's easier.

And no, to the people who say there are exactly 4 weeks in a month therefore you're pregnant 10 months. A month is 4 weeks and a few days long (except February...because 4 weeks is 28 days). Think about it. Those few days add up to a few weeks and then...what do you know? Nine months (not 10) and your baby is born!

Looked at another way: If pregnancy was a 2 day ordeal and you were 1 day pregnant, you'd be working on (in) your second day.

Or, on the first day of your pregnancy, you would say you're in your 1st month even though you still have about 29 days to go to complete a month. It has nothing to do with the "missing month", which is really just people mistakenly assigning 4 weeks (28 days) to each month when in fact it's more like 30 days = about 2 "lost" weeks + 2 weeks at fertilization (whether you count from ovulation (LMP) or conception about 2 wks later)

its wierd right lol but your total preg is only 40 weeks. Most ppl deliver between 36 weeks and up. DEpending on what book you are reading...some do not count the first few weeks. It can be soooo confusing. The best way to go about it is stay in the weeks..if someone asks say 23 weeks. Its so much easier to explain weeks that the months

You start your 6th month, when you are 5 months pregnant. At the end of the 6 months, you will be 6 months pregnant. It's like how a 2 week old baby is in their first month of life, at the end of which they will be one month old.

There is this mysterious month of pregnancy were you are pregnant but I guess either you or your body is unaware of it. So, say you had sex on July 8th. Technically, you should be pregnant as of July 8th, but it usually isn't counted until August 8th. So the month from July to August is a hidden month. This is how I was told.

Good luck on the baby!!

it is confusing but you are really pregnant for 10 months not 9. 40 weeks with 4 weeks per month.

Try thinking of it this way... your "in" your 1st month when you are 0-4 weeks, but you are 1 month along when you hit 4 weeks. You are in your 2nd month 5-8 weeks, but you are 2 months along when you hit 8 weeks etc. Does that make more sense?
