It is social work not social works. The answer depends on if you are talking BSW or MSW. In general social workers work at all system levels (individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations) and with every and any population you can name. Work can include therapy, casework, family work, groiup work, community development, community activism, social policy and planning, adminstration, etc. DA

Lots---none pay really good, but they make a difference...unless you work for the government who only wants to cut people down.

Hospitals, counseling, abused kids, troubled kids, elderly (nursing homes, senior centers, adult family homes, assisted living), non-profit agencies for every disease with an association or foundation, jails, mental health inpatient facilities, drug & alcohol rehab, developmentally disabled, schools, etc etc.

I just hope you don't get jaded and continue to care and want to help people. For every person abusing the system there are five who are trying their best and really need a hand.

Lots of jobs that will trap you in BS paperwork and inefficient government systems that will slowly rot away your soul and sense of any hope for the future that will leave you bitter, jaded, hating your job and full of despair because of the awful things that people do to one another and the immense amount of apathy and manipulation they display. All of this can be yours for a whopping average salary of about 32K a year.

I suggest you find a different career path now.

You can work with people with substance abuse, disabilities, unemployment, serious illness, spousal abuse, or child abuse.

You can work at public schools, adoption agencies, foster care programs, senior adult programs, employee assistance programs, or family and couple counseling centers.
