Hi Ludmilla.
For the formation of hemoglobin, it is very important to obtain the recommended dose of folate and vitamin B-6, since it is an essential component in the formation of genetic material and hemoglobin in red blood cells. Their sources are: Apricots, peaches, bananas, black molasses, prunes, raisins, whole grain cereals, turnip greens, spinach, dry beans.

Hemoglobin should be up around 14; Hemoglobin A1c should be less than 7 Hemoglobin is the molecule that carries oxygen to the body. Since this is a diabetes section, I will assume you mean the HbA1c. It is a 2-3 month avg of blood sugars. 6.6 corresponds to roughly an avg blood sugar of ~130 or so. Basically, when sugar is around some of it gets stuck to the hemoglobin. as the concentration of sugar increases, the amount of hemoglobin with sugar on it goes up. hemoglobin lives in the red cell which has an avg life span of 120 days (3 mths). That is why the HbA1c (also called glycosylated hemoglobin) represents a 2-3 month avg of blood sugars.

You are anemic because you need to be eating some red meat and a healthy diet with a lot of dark green veggies. There are vitamins that are high in B vitamins too, but you may not want them since you don't want any medicinal stuff. Good luck.

You need to increase your iron intake, and more vitamin C will help too.

Total cereal has all the iron you need for one day.
Good vegetarian foods include Cream of Wheat, rasin bran, baked potato (with skin), blackstrap molasses, watermelon, dates or prunes, green leafy veggies, soy burgers, and tofu. Don't drink tea with these foods because it keeps your body from taking up the iron.

You will have to consume more veggies with iron in them. Broccoli, bok choy, soybeans, kidney beans, spinach, beet greens, sunflower seeds, even potatoes. Did you know that drinking tea and coffee can deplete the hemoglobin in your diet? I suggest you find a beverage with an iron supplement.

Increase intake of iron, vitamin b12, and Folic acid by change in diet or nutritional supplements. Iron supplements should only be taken in consultation with a doctor because too much iron can be dangerous.

I am not answering from experience, but from what I heard from several friends and business acquaintances. They are taking an all natural product that has ALL of what these people are tell you to do in ONE product. It is not a dietary supplement, it is a Whole Food Tonic.

You can find out more info at http://www.viainthenews.com or email me. You can see other benefits at http://www.viabenefits.com too.

Hope this helps!!!

In chinese medicine, vegetarians may properly develop a cold or dry body type:

And they should eat foods that provide other than iron.
