If you would think about it 4 years is not that far compared to some who are decades apart! As long as both of you especially the guy is responsible enough, why not? Just don't go into the sexual thing. I don't know in your country but it is fine in my country. Check with your local laws.

Dating is not illegal, but sexual activity may be. The age of consent varies from state to state, with some states allowing consentual sex at age 16 and over, while other states restrict the ability to consent to age 18 and over.

You will need to go to the following website to check out the regulations in your own state:

usually dating couples should be under five years older/younger then each other. However when a girl is sixteen and she opts to have sex behind her parents backs, they can file rape charges against the guy due to his age. Best bet is to stay friends and become a couple at 17 or 18.
