Most doctors recommend that you stop taking all pain killer medications once you find out that you are pregnant. You can take precription drugs that are necessary to your health but not much of anything else. If you NEED to take an over the counter pain killer, your best bet is Tylenol, since it is the safest for the baby. Do not take asprin, ibuprofen, or naproxen until you talk to your doctor.

I think u'r best bet would to just take Tylenol and after u've gotten a prenatal examine they can instruct you based on the extent of u'r pain. There were a ton of prescriptions and over the counter drugs that I had to give up once I became pregnant. Everything over the counter will tell u not 2 take unless talking to a physician. Even Tylenol. The baby should be okay. It all depends on how far along u r. If your like in u’r first couple of months the baby should be just fine. Good Luck!!!

You and baby will be 100% fine. Ask any doctor. No worries, just stop taking them now. The baby is in such an early state, it's still splitting cells. If you were taking narcotics or other unsafe-while-pregnant meds in your 2nd or 3rd trimester you could do serious damage... it all depends on what the baby is doing at the time. if you take a dangerous substance while the baby is growing its arms and legs, the arms and legs MAY be deformed.... get the idea? You're so early on that it won't do anything harmful..

Best advice: Stop NOW and do not worry about what you did before you found out you were pregnant. There's nothing you can do to change the past and most of us were doing SOMETHING unhealthy (even when we were trying to get pregnant) when we found out we were expecting. I think God was gracious enough to make some provisions for the month and a half or so that most of us need to figure out that we are pregnant.
Mention it to your doc and then do not let yourself worry about it.

it really depends on what you took, Tylenol is what is recommended only when its needed though, and it should be avoided otherwise. DO NOT In under any circumstances take ASPIRIN, it will cause a miscarriage. Also, Motrin(Ibuprofen) can thin the blood so that is not recommended either. And no antibiotics either. All medications need to be consulted by your GYN before taking.

You can put in the name of the painkiller you are taking to find out its risks in pregnancy.
The baby begins implantation on or aout day 10 after conception, and the placenta won't block anything (except synthetic insulin) so it is best to avoid taking it until you make sure it is ok. If it isn't ok, there are usually other options available.
Good Luck!

They say if you are taking things before you find out your pregnant it's usually not that big of a deal, just stop taking them now that you know and when you visit your OB/GYN, let them know that you were, so they can keep a look out for any complications. Good Luck and Congrats!

Well, what type of painkillers? It's probably ok, because the first few weeks the baby is not really getting anything through the placenta yet.

you're baby is so small right now, it really doesn't affect her/him. i drank like crazy before i knew i was pregnant with my first child when i was 20, so, don't worry. i was so scared my kid might have some sort of FAS but he came out perfect!! just talk to your doctor about it. the doctor will have a better answer than any of us.
