I ended my engagement about a year ago and I still talk to him every so often to see how he is doing. I have moved on with my life and I'm in a great relationship with my boyfriend. I haven't spoken to my ex in a few months because everytime I try to talk to him he gets upset and begs me to come back to him, I want to continue being friends but I know that it was going to be hard when I started to talk to him way after the engagement was over. I couldn't talk to him then and even now trying to be friends with him is difficult. I wish he would except that its over and that nothing will change my answer. I had to end it, I couldn't take his abuse anymore...no woman deserves to have their future husband's hands around their neck.

You dont need to be friends with him. He'll never accept that it's over. Because you keep feeding him. As long as you keep in contact he's warped enough to believe you're interested. Keep the abuse in mind. That should give you the reason to eliminate him from your 'friend' list. Good Luck! ;)

You do nothing about your ex fiance. You end your post by saying he put his hands around your neck and you begin your post by saying you want to be friends. Do you see a problem with this? Why would you want to maintain a friendship with a person like this? I recommend you check yourself on this situation. Let the ex go. It is you you need to do something about. He will go on to do the same thing to his next fiance. You should go on to have a wonderful life with your new relationship. Enough already with this friend bit.

Why do you feel you have to be friends with him? Seems to me it is more of a case of you enjoying letting him know you have moved on and have a replacement for him. That is cruel and selfish. Leave him alone and that will show him true friendship.

You are lucky to be free of the abuse. But likewise don't continue to delay his recovery. Stop talking to him.

OK stop talking to him, i think you talk to him to feed your ego when things aren't going good with your boyfriend. stop talking to him as you broke it off.
