Don't listen to hecklers here.
Of course you can dance to Rock and make it look good.
Consider your feet your 'base instrument' and begin by keeping up with the beat with your feet.
Then add hands, arms, hips and other body parts.
I often let my arms go with a particular instrument of the song while I keep rhythm with my feet.
Sometimes I let my hips keep the beat and use my feet for extra drum beats.
Just dance and have fun! You got the right idea.

You know what? People danced and looked good, and felt and heard an existing beat BEFORE hip hop even existed in it's current 80's/90's/now form. So YES, you can dance to rock and make it look good.

I think it really just depends on the song. My dance team won at UDA nationals for a routine that was to a Korn song. It has to be Jazz for sure, and the dancer has to have the attitude to go along with it! I

I think you can dance to rock. My dance team is doing a rock song right now. The movements are a mix between lyrical and modern. Just think muscular strong movements and it works fine.

ok, i know exactly what i'm talking about. You definatley can't dance to all rock, but some rock , yeeah.
For example, did you see the last iPod commercial, i'm pretty sure "flathead" by The fratellis is a rock song. you can dance to that.

Metal is a bit harder to dance to i guess, but i guess by pretending to be in slo-mo or something you can do it.

Not me personally, but I know several people who can. It is all about confidence. I can dance structured dances and I am graceful and have been told I am very good. When it comes to "wiggle dancing", I have no confidence and I am not good. I become uncoordinated.
