You are the mayor of a town, and there have been shark attacks on your beach. The 4th of July is coming up and if you close the beach you will lose lots of money. Would you rather save lives or make some money? Id rather save lives.

I have to think. How much is a couple of lives worth?
How much will the beach bring to the city?
Will a cuple of attacks keep people away?
Will the meddia coverage bring more income to the city?
Might be best to put a fence around part of the beach.
Be sure the sharks are fed well might help as well.
Sure lets open the beach and fence part of it. Pick up the homeless and feed the sharks each day.
Now there are several issues taken care of there.

I would build a man-made lake that butts up to the sea with a screened in channel, surround it with sand, and set up a way to keep the water flowing. Since the fourth is coming up fast, there would be not enough time left for this year, so I would have to think up a major attraction that would not require the beach, and close the existing beach. How about a Jazz Festival, Car Rallies, Poker Tournaments, as many of these types of events as possible and start promoting them now.

I would keep open the beach. A lot of families like to visit beaches during the month of July. I would post many signs and sent out letters to every home stating the situation and remind them of times that are good to go out to the ocean. Of course after dusk is bad because that's feeding time for sharks. I would keep the beach open!

Save lives, because you won't make money if you let people get attacked by sharks. And, the attacks will make the other residents not want to go there, losing even more money.

Didn't this happen in that Jaws movie?
Of course, save lives AND make money selling water guns so that people can stay cool even though the beach is closed.

sounds like movie from a long time ago. yes they should have closed those beaches. especially when that girl showed up dead on the beach of an obvious shark attack. but if they had done that, it wouldnt have been much of a movie.
