Kevin, you make the same mistake. You think they'd let minor details like having to split up the profits keep them from making huge money? The only reason this film hasn't happened yet is that no one influential enough has pitched it.

And this idea that they don't want their characters to look weak on the screen-- there are thousands of ways around that. The problem is cronyism and lack of vision, not proprietary rights or plot details.

Cookie-- Excellent point about the two franchises doing just fine on their own. Now that I look at it that way I see you're right: it might never happen 'cause why fix it if it ain't broke.
You ask "did Superman make the Hulk mad?" Dude, how could he NOT make the Hulk mad? Him with his red cape, like a matador. Flying around like a pussy. If I were Hulk, Superman would be right at the top of my list of stuff to kill.
