I am in my 60's and the thing that makes me the happiest in life, is to have my entire family together, wether it be a cook out, going out to dinner or just sitting on the deck a chatting. I love it but it gets less as the family gains their own families.

In Raja yoga, there is a state called Dyana. That is a real state of happiness.

All the other happy situations are very much temporary. What is permanent and strong is the best. The energy level felt through Dyana will never die.

I'm happiest when...

...dreaming...eating ice cream...having meaningful conversations with interesting people...reading an excellent book...smelling the after-rain smell...thinking about the future...learning something worthwhile and fun...dancing...listening to great music...taking a bubble bath...making up my own dreams and stories...taking quizzes on Tickle Tests...finding and meeting and talking to refreshingly intelligent yet not socially-challenged individuals (they are rarer than you'd think-at least from where I'm from)...and playing with my cat. Wow, even typing that lengthy list made me happier!!!

Solitude should be the source of happiness in my life. I do not need to live on others' attention and care about how people think of me when I am alone. I can simply be myself, do what I like, and also hold aloof from the emotional entanglements. I have the chance to know more about myself and probe into my soul in introspection. All in all, it is the nature of existence that only after we learn to appreciate the beauty of solitude do we really know about what life is. Life is but a self-sufficing solitude, as Wordsworth's beautiful line tells us.
