I have never experienced attraction to another person, so I've decided that romantic love is superfluous.
However, my mother says I should be looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend.
Why?

If you're happy the way you are...don't ! There is no law or rule that says you have to be with someone. If one day you want to..then you will. If you are happy with not having a partner, then stay that way. Your life is just that...your life ! Live it how you see fit, not how your mom or anyone else tells you you should.

I don't think people 'need' to have a bf/gf. So i don't understand why your mother would say you should be looking for one. If you find someone you're attracted to, and feel that desire to commit, then it can be great. I wouldn't go 'searching' for it though, you can't force or plan love. However, you mentioned that you haven't felt an attraction towards anyone. That's very odd. You haven't had a sexual desire for anyone??? And i do mean for either sex. Attraction and desire are part of being human, you should have felt that way towards SOMEONE. I find that very hard to believe. I wish you luck in getting in touch with your emotions!!

A bf/gf is someone who you can confide in,trust,learn to love and act as a companion through life. If you havent experienced it yet its ok just wait for the right person and dont let outside pressure effect your decision!!!

Why would your mom say you need a girlfriend OR a boyfriend? If you're ambivalent about the direction you wish to take, seek professional help (or do your own exploration).

It is up to you. If you are asexual type 2 and feel no attraction to either gender then you shouldn't conform to society. I am asexual type 1 and do want a girlfriend because I feel romantic and its also fun.

If you are not interested yet, no you shouldn' t be looking. No one says everyone has to be with someone in their lives. When the time is right, if it is ever right, then you will want to be with someone. Don't let anyone, even Mom tell you you need to do it. Just be happy, do what you want.

Don't worry about it. If you're not ready it won't be any good anyway.
How old are you anyway? You don't sound very old. Focus on school and work right now - you have no idea how much more you can achieve when you're not thinking about girls.

most people believe that true happiness comes when you have found a life partner. i'm sure your mother means well, but you don't need to be looking for a significant other if you're not interested.

If you'r not having attraction 2 anyone thats fine keep it that way until ur ready not ur mom, you will start to like someone once you find that one person.
it's not real attraction if ur force to start liking them

Don't listen to your mother. You have to be your own man. If you don't want a girlfriend, then don't get one. Don't let society pressure you.
