wait 6 to 9 months till the black drive turns gray then its time this is easy to do just dont let someone spray it this will cause a mess thes best way to do this is use coal tar asphalt sealer this is the most common sealer but due to the rising price companys are useing asphalt base sealer this stuff will not hold up
1 edge drive
2 get all dirt off
3 blow it off with blower
4 treat gas/oil stains
5 fill cracks
start at the top of the drive push the sealer a few feet to the bottom them go to the top and go side to side to take out all foot prints working your way all the way to the end put a piece of carpet on the edge and over the sidewalk so that you dont get sealer on grass or concrete.

You didn't say if it was concrete or asphalt. The asphalt shouldn't need a coat so soon. But I guess it depends on how watered down the coating was when applied. And they do water it down!!! I can't help with asphalt. We have sealed our concrete several times. First use a spray washer to get all the dirt and grease off. You will be surprised how dirty it gets. Make sure it has dried well before applying the sealer . We use a garden sprayer to put ours on. We need to do ours this year too. It is a job especially if you have a long driveway. Pick a day when you won't have any rain for 2-3 days.... Don't know where you live but it does help protect the concrete from salt & ice falling from cars..

It is easy but sloppy. Put on an old set of clothes, a pair of shoes you are about to get rid of, and some rubber gloves. Buy enough buckets of sealer for your square footage and the spreader broom they recommend.. Get your car out onto the street so you don't have to use the driveway for a few days. Then just start puring puddles on and smearing it uniformly. It doesn't take long or much strength but that outfit you are wearing is a goner.

I would call a sealing contractor. They're fairly affordable and you can avoid the mess this job creates. I had them come over and quote a price. I was told that I didn't need sealant yet. When you start seeing the stones in the blacktop come through that's the time to seal.

What did you construct your driveway of? If it's asphalt, you shouldn't need sealer first year. Concrete seal right away. Gravel, don't seal at all!

Concrete? If so, real easy. Make sure it is cleaned off, of course. Just roll it on. Buy a cheap roller cover, and frame. It isn't worth trying to save them, so just toss them. Maybe a cheap brush, if you need to get close to a wall.

Asphalt, honestly, no idea.

remove all dirt and dead grass from area. buy your sealer in 5 gallon buckets and stir well.pour out in a line across your drive and use a squeegee to smooth it over your drive. we used to do this for a living when we did parking lot striping.

it is very easy.
use a paint roller to apply it on. this ensures a nice and consistant finish\

you may have to pressure wash the drive way to remove oil, grease marks and anything else that may be there.
