Are you absolutely sure he doesn't use drugs?

In my experience, only drug addicts sell scrap metal and cans and things for money. He doesn't sell his blood, does he?

Or maybe he's just extremely environmentally conscious. I hope that's the case.

I pick up litter when I see it, but I don't sell it for money...

The only reason it would explode is if you either put the lid on tight or if it was in an unopened can. The gases expand when frozen and if it's sealed tight, it will explode. I got into this kick once of freezing every beverage so it would get all slushy, but I always left the lid a little unscrewed, so it never exploded. Of course, there is still a problem when freezing carbonated drinks...I froze a doctor pepper once and when I opened it all the way, it began fizzing like crazy like I had shaken it a lot! I think maybe I hadn't unscrewed it enough for gas to come out...So make sure you hold it over a sink when you open it just in case lol and leave the cap unscrewed a bit. Hope this helped!

Yes he's fine. You shouldn't be embarrassed by the fact that he is doing a great job at helping to keep the Earth clean by recycling. He is also making a profit from it however small or large that profit may be. Tell him to more to Michigan if he really wants to make extra money because they give back 10 cent per can, I believe that's the highest in our nation. I used to work certain festivals with my day when I was younger and I had everyone put their cans in certain bins and when I went to the store I have over 2000 cans. It was a great lesson for me to learn how and I also made some cool cash at 12 years old.

Why be embarrassed? He is helping the environment by cleaning up and he is getting extra money. Nothing wrong with that. If you want to know if he is okay financially, then ask him. Where I come from, there were a lot of people who were scrambling to pay bills. They tried to get money in anyway they could.... by collecting cans, or picking blueberries during the summer for extra money, etc....
