If 2 men were equal in every way possible (both equally cute, same color, etc), except for height,more often than not, a girl would say that the taller man is hotter. Why?

Many women enjoy the feeling of being "protected" and on some level, a taller man may seem more capable of this...
Plus, they can reach things high up...

Here is what I find make a man HOT:
He has a decent, honest job - not rich, but makes a living.
He can handle having a drink or two, without getting sloppy drunk.
He has a faith, belief in something bigger than himself and he practices and grows in his faith.
He treats people - not just women - and animals with dignity and respect.
He bathes regularly and in general has good hygiene practices.
These are just a few. Height is not even in the top ten of the list of things that make a man HOT.

I think goes back to the whole taller men are more protective and make the woman feel secure. I would rather date a taller guy than a guy who is only 2 inches taller than me.

I'm a tall woman - so I perfer taller men.
As to height being hotter - it depends. If the man has long legs, takes care of himself, and carries himself well - then to me that is hotter then one who doesn't.
Just personal opinion.

I just want a man who is taller than me when I have heels on. But I am 5'11" so I guess he would have to be really tall. It has nothing to do with feeling safe. I just prefer to look up than down when I kiss a man.

They just are. Its best explained by the following:
Meatloaf or Steak.
The tall guy is the steak and the short guy is a meatloaf.
Same applies to women.
Taller is better.
No one likes to be cut short.

It's a cultural thing. Tall, dark, and handsome, and all that. I'm neither tall, dark, nor handsome, but I've done alright for myself. I have a beautiful wife and we're both happy, so I couldn't care less what other people think!
