You ask for the "average price" but I don't see what use that info could be. An acre in Westminster would be billions of pounds - if it were ever for sale. An acre just outside Salford could be got for a few hundred, with planning permission a few thousand. An acre of the Scottish Highlands could be a few hundred, of prime Wiltshire grazing land hundreds of thousands. If I were to tell you the average price of an acre of UK land - would it be of any use to you ? I don't think so.

Forget the average price - work out how much you can spend, then see what land you could get for it

In the UK the same factors apply, where abouts the land is, what use i.e. for crops/ stock grazing/horses. Arable land is more expensive than scrub land, so is good grazing grass. It isn`t really possible to quote a price without knowing these details.

Depends where it is. Is it in the desert, lakefront, oceanfront, middle of small town, or downtown New York City?

It varies drastically from state to state and from county to county. Check a realty site for your area.
