The major doesn't actually matter, but you'll need to have taken a lot of biology and chemistry classes. That's why most people major in one of those two subjects. You also will need some math classes. I know a couple of people, though, who took a major in Classics or Literature, and then a bunch of science classes and some math, and got into top med schools with no problem. Don't worry so much about the major, but know that you'll need lots of Bio and Chem. Be sure to talk to a med school admissions rep way early and ask them to give you a list of the specific courses they expect you to have taken.

If I were you, I would double major in Biology and Chemistry. Of course you will also need a liberal sprinkling of Mathematics. I hope you enjoy spending long hours in a lab. You may want to buy a cot to sleep on while spending overnights there.

they say you can choose any major, but it is a wise and recommended idea to major in biology or chemistry
