"IT", subtitle, "The Terror from beyond space". I was about 11 years old when I first saw it and it scared the bejesus out of me. It's still a nail-biter, even after all these years. It was a typical 50's B-grade thriller, but it's held up amazingly well, if you can get past the black and white thing. If you're into color, I'd suggest "Forbidden Planet". Another B-grade nail-biter, with Walter Pigeon in the starring role. It's far better known than "IT", and for good reason. It's a real classic. You'd do well to check 'em both out!

Definitely "The Exorcism of Emily Rose".
Not just because of the scare-factor in the movie itself, but because the demonic realm is very real, and this movie was based on a true story.
To be honest, because I am a follower of Jesus, I have a hard time recommending that anyone actually see this movie, even though I thought it was one of the most well-made I've ever seen. But if you truly want to know more about the spiritual realm, and how demons work, you should see this movie. It may just end up "scaring the h e l l outta ya"!! ;)

Dead Silence wasn't THAT scary. The scariest movie I have ever seen was Camp Rock. Oh,the horror! I only saw half of it with my cousins and they smiled the whole time! I was hugging my teddy bear, Gerard while my friend was hugging my other teddy bear, Frank. O.O *shivers*

The Exorcist!! Scarist movie I have ever seen. I could not sleep at all for 2 weeks after I saw that. I would then have to say the Leprechaun, only because I am terrified of Leprechauns.

"The Shining". I mean the old one with Jack Nicholson where he goes freakin' gonzo! He's not the one who scares me though, it's the creepy little girls. I seen this movie when it came out( I was 10 or 11) & I slept with a light on for a week.

Definitely "Signs". We were watching it in my basement, and at the part that they actually show the aliens for the first time (at the birthday party on the news), when it was extremely tense, my cat jumped on my head over the back of the couch...that was the closest I came to peeing my pants since I was 5.

For me I could break it out into several areas:
For the surprise type:
The First:
Friday The 13th.
Nightmare on Elm st.
For the Creepy type:
Event horizon
Serpent and the rainbow
For shock value alone I would go with:
The original Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock)
