since they frequently call each other that.
Now, why was I not allowed to finish spelling that "N" word when a VERY similar question asked yesterday ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070404143038AAYFVEj&r=w#G5UuAW34EVSBmoUqdr5v ) which indicated "that white people accept being called GRINGO" is STILL up? Could there be some anti-white racial bias among the Q&A staff? Why can I say GRINGO all day long but not N..... even once?

So your answer is that its because whites aren't as offended by "gringo" as blacks are offended by the "other" word? I can tell you that I am offended by "gringo" when I hear it from a Hispanic, just like blacks are offended to hear the "other" word from whites (but apparently not from other blacks). You are intentionally failing to see the logic of my point.

Don't get me wrong, I say ban ALL racial slurs and treat them ALL the same (which would result in account deletion).

"The N word is a derogatory term used to degrade and subjugate a minority people."
Go down to TJ as a white person and see if you aren't a minority being degraded.

Gringo is a spanish slang term for an American...not a particular race or color, but someone who is Americanized. There is no bias or history of malice behind the word. On the other hand...there is no nice way to say the "N" word in a normal conversation. The word is spawned from hatred and never had a pleasant meaning in its historical usage.

Because some people would ruin the fun for everyone by tossing it out there in a negative context. Gringo is not generally accepted as a negative. You really do have a good point. However, perception is everything. The world we currently live in has developed the perception that the N word is a negative in any form. Get used to it.

Ther's just something about that particular word that is a demeaning factor and that I believes go back to when they were slaves and treated like people of the lowest class the word represents hatred against blacks, but I don't believe any race should be slandered, but the N word is the worst

I'm biased on this question cause i am 'african american' so of course i'll have to defend the use of that word. I mean ****** can be used for anyone that i think in ignorant. But i also know that if i hear a white person say that word i get mad and seep down to their level. I mean i'm sure white people get mad when they hear cracker its just that ****** brings back history to us and for the tense that rappers say its *****; not any better but hey i don't really care if i hear black people saying it cause they just don't know the meaning of the word truly hopefully that word will fade from blacks vocabulary soon.

The N word is a derogatory term used to degrade and subjugate a minority people. A majority (Gringo's) does not need the same protection as does a minority, so there are no laws to prevent such.

Well im not black, but I dont know that I would put those two words in quite the same category.
Its all about motive.
I have a mexican guy I know who can call me gringo all he wants... But you have some that use it alot in the immigration forum and you know their motive is to try and irritate caucausian americans.

It's only racist if a "honky" or "cracker" like me says it. They are free to say it on the streets or in their crappy rap music. Hell, because of the liberals, even the term "illegal alien" is racist. Now they're called "undocumented immigrants." What a joke. They're still illegal aliens to me.
