Depends on the shop and rather or not you have requested it. we tend to not print them out because most of the time the general public can not make heads or tails of all the numbers and specs that are on the print out. It's not a cut and dry easy to explain print out. Most of the time it will just give you the read out of the information the computer is receiving from the sensors and then we compare that to the known value. It it's with in the acceptable scope then we know that’s not our problem if it's out side the scope then we know where to start looking. There are a few tests that will show a pass or fail but other then that the print outs would most likely mean nothing too you. But you can always request it prior and after the repair. Just let them know and they can print it out.

Not necessarily...If you go get the free "diagnostic" at Autozone you don't. And besides, would you know what you are looking at? I don't mean that to be flippant. I do document repairs that I make for my customers, but if they want diagnostic work with documentation, I charge for that. If you took your car to a shop and expect alot of diagnostic work and documentation for free, you may be expecting too much. Do you work for free??

Not unless they have a printer for the scanner! (not my priority when buying a scanner)
Of course I print you a recipt explaining my findings, but if a customer is distrustfull and assumes I am a liar because I didn't buy a seperate printer to plug into my scanner to show them something they can't understand, I just tell them to go to firestone or something and get screwed. and stay out!

depends on whether the shop spent the extra money and got a printer with scanner...really not necessary. But I let my customers watch me run the scan...

not always, sometimes you have to ask for one, and not all shops have the capability of printing the test off
