Well, the simple answer is "within yourself." You won't find courage elsewhere... you can observe it in others, but that may not necessarily incite you to take action.

On to a bigger issue I find in your question: your desire to be extraordinary may preclude your success. I suppose it depends on how you define "extraordinary," but selfish attachment to a given outcome can get in the way of that outcome. I think the unbridled desire to succeed often leads to a "too much is never enough" mentality. You've got to be careful. What are your reasons for wanting to be extraordinary? What actions must you take in order to be extraordinary as you define it?

There are a million ways *not* to be average - we can perform any act with excellence if we so commit ourselves. So, step outside yourself, realize that there are greater reasons to want to do extraordinary things than recognition and reputation. After all, I find that the people who do the most amazing things often *appear* rather average and their contribution(s) often go unnoticed.

So, you have to decide: Is it the contribution that is important to you or is it the acknowledgment you anticipate from others in making that contribution? If it's just about the ego-stroking, you've certainly got your work cut out for you.

I would define success ,or accomplished, as the single most feeling of acheivement in a single day. Go ahead, reach for the stars , but try to get there one day at a time.

Got to have the talent and the persistence to be extraordiany. Put your nose to the grindstone, focus on the tiny steps you can take this week, keep your nose down, walk one step at a time. Do you have a plan for this journey or just wishful thinking?

It's not courage you need but a burning desire, a certain amount of ability and single mindedness about achieving a goal.

Just keep your eyes open for extreme opportunities and try to think ahead of the tide.... and work hard, of course
