What do I buy for my boss when I go on vacation?

My boss told me to bring him back something from my vacation to TN. What should I bring him? Key Chain? T-Shirt? What is appropriate?

Since you are going on vacation, your boss assumes that you will be sightseeing and visiting some exciting places in Tennessee. If you are going to visit any museums, try to find some item that is unique and has TN on it or the name of the museum. Tennessee is known for its music, maybe that can be of some help to you. Otherwise, just buy your boss a souvenir such as mug, baseball cap, t-shirt, pen, salt and pepper shakers, shot glass or a glass. Don't buy anything way too cheap. It'll seem that you didn't want to get your boss anything.

I'd avoid T-Shirts. I'd also avoid something that's large and gaudy and would take up too much desk space, like a big picture frame or something. Better ideas would be keychains or a pen with the city name. People who drive desks for a living can never have too many pens! (My boss brought her bosses and the people who reported directly to her flower-print pens and flower-print notepads from her Hawaiian vacation, very cute. Don't know the TN equivalent though!)

You really didn't provide any info about your boss or your relationship, so I'm making this general...clothing items, even a t-shirt can be a bit personal so steer clear. A shot glass with the name of the city is a good bet. Other possibilities...a spoon many collect them, a refrigerator magnet, or even a pen.
