Im paralyzed from about the waist down and have some incontence problems so I wear disposable underwear. I occasionally get some really bad UTI's especially in warm weather.

Can Monistat or Summer's Eve feminine wipes help preventing UTI's or woudl they make them worse? Is one better than the other?

The wipes would help clean the area, which is needed because of The prolonged time exposed to urine. I think you will have to experiment to find out which one works best for you. Be sure you drink two glasses a day of cranberry juice to cut down the uric acid in the urine.

I'm not sure if they would help or not, but cranberry juice is very good for UTI's. Maybe you can ask the doctor for a prescription to keep on hand so you can take the medication when you feel one coming on. To relieve the symptoms you can take Uristat, but that just makes you feel better, but doesn't actually get rid of the infection. You need to take prescription medicine with sulfer in it. I think it's called Bactrim. Good luck - I feel for you - I know how uncomfortable they can be.

It sounds like you might have a yeast infection. Some symptoms of a yeast infection include; burning, soreness, itchiness, irregular vaginal discharge (can look like cottage cheese). This is something you should definitely see a doctor to confirm before starting a course of action. An over the counter treatment for this is Canesten Duo, which contains one pill and some ointment for use on the affected area.

It would be better to ask a doctor then ask your question here. I don't know since you are paralyzed. Better to ask a doctor to be sure. Good luck to you.
