--It could be a bad pulse coil. It's at the flywheel and acts like a set of points. It sends a signal to the CDI. The pulse coil could be bad or unpluged.
--Could be a bad CDI box.
--Could be a bad kill switch. Always in the off position. Dirt bike kill switches are cheap and easily damaged in a fall. Try unpluging it (it's a grounding switch).
--Could be a bad ignition coil. Easily tested with a multi-meter.
--John B gave a good answer about the spark plug cap not making a good connection. Unscrew it from the wire. Cut 1/4" off the end of the wire and screw it back on.
--Could be a bad spark plug cap. Pull one off your car or lawn mower and try that one.
--Buy a shop manual to learn all the tests to perform and the specs each test should give.

Tons: 'What we once thought we had we didn't And what we have now will never be the same So I call upon the author to explain.' --Nick Cave's 'We Call Upon the Author' 'If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn They will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem' --Leonard Cohen's 'Sisters of Mercy' 'But I tell you, I tell you, I tell you we must send away We must try to find a new answer instead of a way' --Jim Morrison (more from Zarathustra than Birth of Tragedy) 'Some women wait for Jesus, and some women wait for Cain So I hang upon my altar, and I hoist my axe again. And I take the one who finds me, back to where it all began, When Jesus was the honeymoon and Cain was just the man.' --Leonard Cohen 'Last Years Man' I'll stop now. I think almost any Leonard Cohen could make this list. Dylan and Kobain have some good ones too.

Sometimes the wire cap (the part that fits on to the spark plug) twists off. Try removing the cable, push a spare spark plug until it snaps on, and turn it clockwise a few times. There can be a number of failure modes, but this does happen quite a bit and costs nothing to check. Good luck.

If it was running but suddenly quit, I would check the kill switch or check for a disconnected wire that may have been caught on a branch or something. Trace the ignition circuit and check for continuity.
