Could they be from the Eastern Block. Do they ask too many questions? Perhaps you'll feel better if you travel to Amsterdam.

I think it is human nature to not like people towering over us. It feels weird to be standing next to someone tall and have to look up at them to talk to them and to have them talk to us. I am tall for a woman (5'9") and my brother-in-law and his family are much taller than that (well over 6 foot) and I am intimidated when we are all in the same room talking and moving around. It feels like the Land of the Giants! As to what you can do to overcome or suppress this feeling, I don't know. Remember that the taller people are not purposely towering over you with the intention of intimidating you, they can't help their height.

There is no reason to feel inferior or intimidated by tall people. I'm 6'10" tall so i personally can't relate, but my friends are your height or taller and one of the reasons they like me is because i'm their protection.

There are some huge bodybuilders at 5'8. The shorter you are the bigger you look. Pick up some weights and grow some muscle, chicks love muscle. :) Hope that helps little dude!

I'm the shortest one in my family and I'm 5'6". The next shortest female is 5'10", but they average a solid 6'. I got over my fear of them by pounding on my largest sister (and later, my largest brother) on a regular basis. What can I say? I was a rotten child. I wouldn't necessarily try that with a stranger, however.

Just realize that someone with a higher center of gravity is going to be easier to knock over, probably a bit slower than you and you'll be able to sneak up on them easily since we 'short' people are below their line of sight. Feel blessed by being small enough to escape attention/easily escape from a tall person. Also remember you don't have to hear any of those lame 'how's the weather up there' jokes. If that hasn't gotten the sense of 'short superiority' going yet, nothing will.

Height is just about all in the legs, there is far less difference between the hip and the shoulder. If tall people intimidate you, get everyone to sit down, that way you are all much the same size.
