Would they make this big of a deal about it on the national or even the local news. No they wouldnt . Why because we just arent that important...but a woman who lived her life as a playboy playmate and then married a rich 80 yr old man .and who was known for using drugs.....yes shes really needed all this media attention...are there not enough people suffering in this world that we have run out of worthwhile stories to run on the news? Arent there children starving right here in the US? Dont we have homeless people who are dying because they have nowhere to go when the weather turns bad? Isnt that something worth working on rather than dragging a high profile death threw the freaking presses? Dont we have more to worry about?

I agree, and I think that way too much was put in the media. She dies for crying out loud, give the fam some sympathy and let it be! We don't all need to hear about it!

Dear Hdhoney -

You have to understand how the MEDIA works!

What makes this news is MONEY!

There are $100s of millions at stake here depending on the will or wills (and they'll be contested), who parented the off-spring, and just exactly what caused her death (because of life insurance , i.e. money again, issues).

So, the thing will drag-out through the courts for years, by those who stand to benefit opposed by those who stand to lose.

They'll be lots of courtroom drama and several books.

They'll be at least one movie.

And all this over the next five years. Then there'll be all the "NEW EVIDENCE" stuff in the tabloids!

Why do you think there's all those supermarket exposes' at the checkout stand??

Some people, without lives of their own, love to read about others, and the more outlandish and bizarre the better!

Hey - that's why there's an "OFF" button and a channel or station change option on your TV or radio set!

I certainly have no interest in this - but also I have zero interest in hearing about presidential candidates. I'm not much of a media follower!

Have a good-'un!

CQ - in reading mode ...

The Media is corrupt full stop, they show whats going to make them money wether it be wrong or right. i agree with what you are saying and who really wants to know about say eg: anna nicole smith she is so uninteresting.

i was comming back from london the other day and i saw a dead woman on the tracks, i tryed to research it to discover what had happened but i found nothing on her at all. but an inccident that happened the same day with two men being hit by an underground train was shown becuase it could have been murder! i think that all cases should be shown or at least written about not just the ones that they think are important!

Yeah right, but it is not news as there are so many of them and they've been around for years so it is nothing new. Anna Nicole, however, was news...money, celebrity, sex Goddess, drugs, tragedy, parasites and greed...and then some all make for an interesting story whether you read it, hear it or see it. It also has the staying power of Marilyn Monroe, Lana Turner and Jayne Mansfield too.

If you died in a hotel room, the hotel would call the police, or 911.

They'd send the police to secure the room and they'd send the coroner to investigate.
Then, the body would be removed. If there were no signs of foul play, the room would be unsecured and the hotel would clean it up.
it is hard to conceal a police car, coroner's car and ambulance.
No big deal would be made, and if the guest ifs from our of town it wouldn't make the news.
Anna nicole smith gets hours of TV time, we get dork! Yes, we have more important things to worry about it, but the media needs
Anna to fill airtime. You, me? Beyond our families, who cares??

I know what you mean. I heard a tape of the 911 call that the news played, and the caller said at one point "She's Anna Nicole Smith" or something to that affect...like it should matter? Would they have forgotten about another call (if they had one) and run to her first?

Sadly, though, it will always be that way when it comes to celebrities.

it got so much media attention because her life was a trainwreck. There are more important topics out there to discuss....I don't think the media folks care about them just the ratings. I

well, who could argue with that? Unfortunately misery loves company and I think a lot of people are trying to run away from their own problems by puting all the energy and time into this kind of crap. Good luck! and God bless.
