The only thing that the ethical action is relative to is right or wrong. Relativism and 'values' based systems of moral ethics tend to ignore reason somewhere along the path. In order to discover the truth of an ethical dilemma one must appeal to reason, not beliefs or opinions. And if I had to choose between relativism and absolutes I would chose the absolutes simply because I don't want to be gunned down by some guy whose religion says to kill someone everyday. His killing me would be based purely in a belief based system of moral ethics and relativism would force me to say that if he believes it to be true I must agree that is true that he must kill me... If we subscribe to thou shall not kill then I'm alive! Looks like absolutes win that one anyway.

If Christ is absolute then he has always existed, therefore there is no way he can be God's son. Religion is no backdrop for absolutism as there is no RATIONAL or LOGICAL explanation inherent to these claims. Goto the religion and spirituality section if you don't want to be badgered by philosophical skeptics like myself.
Absolutes are something our mind cannot understand and very much like the concept of 'perfect' are something we assume to exist in reference to the concept of imperfection.

Relative. There are no absolutes. Nothing means anything unless it is referenced to something else.

I am a religious person, and I think all religious people would agree that absolutes do exist.
The reason I say this is because religious people believe that Christ is absolute, something that will not change and can not fall.
